Senility rains

Or even reigns!

Right now as I write, as Black Watch passes the Isle of Wight and joins the south-westerly stream of traffic in the English Channel, ...

I should be sitting down with Barbara to a sumptuous dinner in the Glentanar Restaurant enjoying something like:
MAIN COURSES
INDIAN SPICED BUTTERFISH
Fillet of butterfish baked in a mild coconut curry sauce, served with basmati rice, raita and poppadums
SLOW ROAST DUCKLING CONFIT
Leg of duck presented in a peppercorn sauce with honey roast parsnips and a potato rosti
BRAISED LEG OF VENISON WITH SPICED PEARS
Simmered in red wine and juniper berries, served with croquette potatoes, sauteed brussel sprouts and carrots
SCANDINAVIAN HERRING PLATTER
Assorted marinated herrings, served with dark rye bread and warm new potatoes
SPAGHETTI "PAPALINA"
Al dente pasta tossed in a creamy tomato sauce, with peas, ham and mushrooms, garnished with grated parmesan
(Available as a vegetarian dish without ham)
BRITISH DISH OF THE DAY
IRISH STEW WITH DUMPLINGS
Tender chunks of lamb with carrots and cabbage in a rich thyme flavoured jus, served with potatoes and sweet pickled red cabbage

But no, I'm back at home, on my own, digging anything I can find out of the freezer to eat in the cold house. :-((  A bit of an exaggeration really, I did find some frozen steak so it's not all bad.

We'd lugged our heavy cases through three railway stations (Swindon, Bath & Southampton) and the mile or so in freezing weather from the station to the City Cruise Terminal where Black Watch sat patiently awaiting our company ......

only to be told, "No sorry sir, we can't let you aboard Black Watch.".

I of course immediately blamed Barbara for letting me FORGET MY PASSPORT !!!

It wasn't her fault of course, she remembered to pack hers, and I remembered to pack the kitchen sink and just about everything else, but not the one thing they wouldn't let me board without.

Plan no. 2

UMMM
