Black Watch's progress so far at a steady 17.5 knots (about 20 mph):
At about 06:00 tomorrow morning (which requires Aurian and myself to set off at 03:00 from Swindon; thanks in advance Aurian) I will set off at about 600 mph to try and catch Barbara up (and Black Watch of course). From Heathrow, Air Portugal (TAP) will whisk me to Lisbon, something like this ......
(and I thought the English Channel looked crowded) and then from Lisbon on to Madeira where we'll be together again at last; it's been strange living at home all on my own.
My early start on Saturday is very reminiscent of the last time we saw Eddy at about 05:00 on the 4th December 2013 when we'd taken him to Gatwick:
He was flying off to The Canaries to join a catamaran full of young people about to sail across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, from where he flew to Venezuela then travelled overland to Chile. My/our route is similar but a little more civilised: we don't have to do the cooking, sailing, boat cleaning, etc., etc. as the crew on his catamaran would have had to do.
The next instalment will hopefully be from Black Watch heading west across the Atlantic. Watch this space ......
